F1 Celebrates 75th Anniversary with a Spectacular London Season Launch

At the 02 Arena in London, England, all the protagonists of Formula 1 met and presented teams, drivers and models in an unprecedented event to kick off the 2025 season.

Formula 1 experienced an iconic afternoon on Tuesday, February 18, 2025. For the first time, and to mark the 75th anniversary of F1, an official presentation was held jointly by all the teams and protagonists of the F1 for the 2025 season, unlike previous years, where each team had a set date to unveil its new model and its drivers.

It took place at London's O2 Arena and was not without music, celebrities and humor. The Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) did not force the teams to reveal every detail of their designs, so it was more of a display of colours and sponsorships. Each team had seven minutes to present the new car and its new drivers and say a few words to the fans.

The order in which they took to the stage was the reverse of their results last year in the Constructors' Championship. First, it was Sauber's turn, 10th in 2024, and last was McLaren, the champion. In fifth place, having started 6th last year, was Alpine F1 Team, with its regular drivers, Jack Doohan and Pierre Gasly, and Oliver Oakes, the team boss.

Alpine reserve driver Franco Colapinto was in London for sponsor commitments but was not present on stage. When it comes to young talents, this event was the first official presentation for five of the twenty drivers that will be on the grid in 2025: Andrea Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes), Oliver Bearman (Haas), Jack Doohan (Alpine), Gabriel Bortoleto (Sauber) and Isack Hadjar (Racing Bulls).

Tickets for fans sold out within 45 minutes and cost $630. The show was hosted by British comedian Jack Whitehall and featured performances by several artists including Take That, Kane Brown, Machine Gun Kelly (mgk) and songwriter Brian Tyler. A multi-million euro investment by Formula 1 to try to attract a larger number of spectators. On March 16, at the Melbourne Grand Prix (Australia), it will be known if the objective has been achieved.
