Inter Miami strike late to close preseason with draw vs. Orlando City

Inter Miami CF and Orlando City SC played to an entertaining 2-2 draw as both sides closed out their preseasons with Friday night's Florida Derby at Raymond James Stadium.

Lionel Messi's Inter Miami drew 2-2 with Orlando City on Friday in a new edition of the Florida derby. The match was played at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa and was the last preseason friendly for the team coached by Javier Mascherano.

Messi started and came off the pitch in the 29th minute of the second half. Tadeo Allende scored the first goal for the pink team, while Fafa Picault equalised in the last minute. Following this match, the Garzas will make their official debut of the season against Sporting Kansas City in the Concachampions next week.

Messi's team finished the preseason unbeaten, with an outstanding streak in friendlies. They beat América of Mexico 3-2 on penalties, then beat Universitario of Peru 5-4, Sporting Miguelito of Panama 3-1 and Olimpia of Honduras 5-0. There were no penalties in this match against Orlando, which ended 2-2.

For their part, the Lions played two preparation matches before the Florida derby. The first was against Atlético Mineiro of Brazil, where they tied 0-0, but the victory was decided on penalties in favor of the Brazilian team. In their second encounter, they again drew 0-0, this time against Forge FC of Canada.
